richmond (kron) -- richmond police say there are now five people in custody in connection with the gang rape of a 15-year old girl outside the richmond high school homecoming dance.
Investigators arrested a 21-year old man last night. Officials tell kron 4 he may be one of the masterminds behind the gang rape. Two teenagers, one 17 and the other 16 were also arrested tuesday.
The teen was attacked after leaving the saturday night dance and going to a courtyard on the north side of the campus. Investigators say as many as two dozen people may eventually face charges for participating in the sexual assault or watching the crime without reporting it to police. Investigators say the attack continued for two and a half hours.
Police are meeting wednesday with contra costa county prosecutors to discuss charges for those already arrested. The west contra costa county school board's safety committee is holding a meeting wednesday night at richmond high school to discuss the attack. A meeting for parents with school officials is set for saturday morning.
If you know anything about the crime, contact richmond police or your local authorities. A $20,000 reward is now in place for information leading to more arrests in the case.
