A little over a month after his induction into the 2008 class of VH1's Hip-Hop Honorees, Too Short is back home on the west coast and has revealed plans for his latest project: building a live band group.

“I went to Atlanta in like, ‘93, ’94,” Short told video program The Dame Fame Show. “I did a lot, man. The whole time we was in Atlanta, we represented the west coast the whole time. We mixed and mingled, but we came in as L.A. niggas, Bay niggas, and we was doin' it like that for real.”

After living down south for over a decade and churning out dirty south hits like 2003’s “Shake That Monkey” with Lil Jon and The East Side Boyz, Too Short is going back to his roots.

“I just felt like, man, I was gone too long. I'm ‘bout to come back to the house and kick it...I'm seeing how the youngsters are getting down. I'm seeing how the music scene is moving around... I did what I did [in Atlanta], it's time to come back.”

With just over 25 years in the rap game, Too Short is changing things up a bit, forming the new live band group, Town Bizness. According to Short, the band got together after he realized that his live shows sounded better with a band, and that it could translate well onto an album.

“Here we go on the stage with the live band, doing a couple of [Too] Short shows, and I'm like, 'man, these niggas is gettin' down. This is sounding good.' It sound better than my shows with a deejay or with a CD.”

The group, who will release its first album on Too Short’s own Up All Night record label, is a combination of artists, writers, and producers, including singer Martin Luther, rapper Silk E, and vocalist Elijah Baker who is best known as one of the members of popular '90s R&B group Tony! Toni! Tone!

Rounding out the group, of course, will be Too Short, who’s 17 studio albums will help to bring a tremendous amount of experience to the new group.
