R&B (some), Dancehall, classic soul (Luther, Anita Baker, etc), Old School Funk (GAP Band, Parliament, Lakeside, Bar-Kays), only alternative I ever liked was Nirvana

All forms of oldies, Soul, Slow Jams(even though that's not a real genre), disco, R&B, motown type stuff, and especially funk. If you don't know the foundation of what hip-hop evolved from, then, in the words of Steve Harvey, "your ass in LACKING major shit in your life".

Video game music, from composers like Yuzo Koshiro(Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Sonic, Shenmue).

J-Rock and J-Pop, mean Japanese.

Lots of theme songs for animes, which fall in the J-Rock and J-Pop category, sice that's how I got into J-music.

I like synth pop from the 80s but don't know any musicians.
