Ok you want a sub to work with your amp so, I'm assuming it puts out 800rms @ 2ohms

This means if you use 1 sub it needs to be a DVC 4ohm and if you use 2 subs they each need to be DVC 2ohm.

Now, you want the total RMS to be under 800, I say 700-750. You always want the amp to have a bit more power so that you don't stress it out trying to get the power, plus most Alpines are a bit overrated.

Now that fact that you are blowing subs means your amp is not set up right, most likely your gain. JL makes top notch subs that can take more than they are even recommended for.

Honestly, join the Sounddomain.com Forum and ask the knowledgeable members on there.

A few others on here can help you but that site IMO is the best way to go.

Damn dog your blowing JLs? those are the best around, something in your system is jacked up if thats happening. But yeah Memphis is good, obvisouly Alpine is qual and they got their diffrent series so you can navigate through your price range. MTX is bomb too jackhammer series. Kicker aint bad for your buck. rockford fosgate is another brand to look into.

Im telling you though man JL is where its at if you talkin subs.

jl audio is only good if its a w3 and up.
but they are WAY overpriced.

you can get WAY better subs than JL for a much cheaper price.

if you want sound quality with a little aggression get some kicker CVX.
those are round solo barics that slap as hard as L7's
if your amp is 800rms and not maxxwatts you should be able to run it good.
make sure you wire the sub correctly to the amp.
2ohms and 4ohms even 1ohm theres a huge difference how you wire your amp.
